Job Placement

Southeastern Vocational Services provides a range of services to help people with disabilities find employment, meet job requirements and achieve success in the workplace. Depending on individual needs and preferences, these services include:

  • Pre-Placement Training: People referred by Vocational Rehabilitation undergo a formal 40-hour instruction program to prepare them to positively present themselves and their work experience to prospective employers. This instruction may be given on a one-on-one basis, in a classroom setting or at a community-based work experience site. It may include resume writing, interview skills training, instruction on grooming and personal hygiene, and refinement of interpersonal skills.
  • Job Analysis: Performed by an employment consultant or job coach, this is a formal process for learning the essential functions of a specific job with a specific employer and identifying any needed accommodations for a specific individual.
  • Job Development: An employment consultant identifies job opportunities that are consistent with the objectives of the person receiving services. This includes meeting with employers, reviewing labor market information and identifying any assistive technology or devices needed to successfully perform the work.
  • Job Placement: An employment consultant helps with initial placement activities such as setting a start date, coordinating workplace accommodations, assisting with paperwork, and attending orientation with a new employee.
  • Job Coaching: An employment consultant accompanies a new worker on the job to provide guidance, teach job requirements, help develop supportive relationships and facilitate acclimation to the workplace.
  • Follow-Along Services: To aid stable job placement, ongoing contacts are made with the client and his or her employer, family, guardian or advocate.
